C&C Cleaning Services is seeking a School Janitor to provide cleaning and maintenance support at Forest Area Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for students, staff, and visitors in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to creating a positive school environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • General Cleaning Duties:
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
  • Dust and wipe down furniture, light fixtures, windowsills, and surfaces.
  • Empty trash bins and replace liners in classrooms, offices, hallways, and other areas.
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch areas, including door handles, handrails, and light switches.
  • Restroom Maintenance:
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
  • Replenish restroom supplies (e.g., toilet paper, paper towels, soap) as needed.
  • Ensure restrooms are always stocked and hygienic. Report any plumbing or maintenance issues to the Site Manager.
  • Floor Care & Deep Cleaning:
  • Sweep and mop floors daily in hallways and high-traffic areas.
  • Strip, wax, and buff floors periodically as part of scheduled deep cleaning.
  • Assist with carpet cleaning and other deep cleaning projects as required.
  • Facility Support:
  • Set up or rearrange furniture in classrooms and meeting areas as needed for events or activities.
  • Assist with school events by preparing or cleaning areas before or after use.
  • Perform additional cleaning tasks during school breaks or as needed for special cleaning requests.
  • Health & Safety:
  • Follow all safety procedures for cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ensure that cleaning tasks are completed in a safe manner to avoid accidents or injuries.
  • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues promptly to the Site Manager.
  • Inventory & Supplies:
  • Ensure that cleaning supplies are adequately stocked and report low inventory to the Site Manager.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and tools in good working condition.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or facilities maintenance roles is a plus but not required.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to clean efficiently and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform physical tasks (e.g., sweeping, mopping, moving furniture).
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper cleaning procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform lifting, pushing, and pulling tasks (up to 40 lbs).
  • Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment in a safe manner.

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves cleaning and maintenance work in various school buildings, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
  • The work schedule is Monday through Friday, typically outside of school hours.
  • Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required for special events or additional cleaning.
  • The role involves using cleaning chemicals, equipment, and handling waste disposal, so safety protocols must always be followed.
